I knew this woman who was badly abused as a child, so of course, she made
these horrendous life mistakes as she grew older. And she went through a
number of men (the really good ones she succeeded in dumping, leaving her
with "shake our heads in wonder" boyfriends.

On EVERY SINGLE ONE she became whatever her new boyfriend wanted her to
be. She was a chameleon. One boyfriend was into the Lakers and this
girl, who couldn't have cared squat about sports, became a walking/talking
Lakers encyclopedia. Another boyfriend has a finance background, so now
she's Ms. Balance Sheet.

It's like The Who song, "Who Are You?"

That's Melissa. Hooked up with Pastore, she became a pornographer.
Hooked up with Doctor Scott, she became a Preacher. There really isn't
any Melissa Scott. She's mouthing the words of the script her
playwright-husband has written for her.

Except now he's dead, so she's an actor on stage without a script.

And we know how smart actors are.

OK, I was worried about you in that last post. This makes more sense (and
I agree with what you say here). If she is now a clone of GS, then the
attitude, sense of entitlement, etc. make perfect sense. Interesting.

Could you please print this out and hand it to

Here are my suggestions-

1. Legitimize your pastorship. Get out the old church Constitution and
dust it off. See what the process is for someone to become a pastor?
If there is none, get a nominating committee to get some nominees in
addition to yourself. Have them pray and then interview the nominees.
Have 1 or 2 actually preach and mingle with the kings houses. Have a
real election one Sunday. Eligble voters are all valid kings houses on
Feb 21st. Berkeley, Oroville and Ireland get to vote too. God willing,
if you are elected, have a real ordination where you put you hand on the
Bible where you pledge what you will teach.

2. Get a church board that will be elected by the kings houses. You
need someone to hold you accountable. You are just flying by the
seat of your pants. You have no feedback.

3. If people have left, get over it. Don't condemn them to Hell.
(a church board would tell you this)

4. Many churches do exit interviews. This is widely done in American
Business. This is the way you can learn the root of what is wrong.
Let some staffer do these with a standardized questionaire.

5. Leave the singing to someone else. I am not kidding.
(A church board would gingerly tell you this)

6. Update your website, including Dr. Scott's bio. Who are you
fooling? Use modern technology like PDF files to distribute
sermon notes.

7. Get out of this silly reservation game for LAUC. Trust God to
fill the seats. You are micro-managing God's work. Use your
prohibition analogy. If you make it a law they have to make
reservations, they will just give you a deaf ear.

8. Get some consultant to come in from Fuller Seminary for an
independent review. It would be the best few hundred dollars
you could ever spend.

Don't you see that this is the problem. The
people on staff are filtering out the information
that she needs to make the ministry thrive. Look
it over and pray on it. Take out the line about
her singing if it makes you feel better.
