here's a story about KDOC. Perhaps Missy's recent comments about
contracts and such are so much smoke?

KDOC-TV to be sold to Atlanta broadcaster
Golden Orange Broadcasting will get $150million in the deal with Ellis
Communications.

By JOHN GITTELSOHN
The Orange County Register

KDOC, the Orange County TV station that broadcasts Ducks hockey games
and reruns of "Kojak" and "Matlock," is being bought for $150million by
an Atlanta broadcasting firm, the deal's broker said Tuesday.

With transmission from a tower atop Mount Wilson, KDOC represents a
rare opportunity to enter the Los Angeles market, said Kelly Callan,
vice president of Kalil & Co, a Tucson, Ariz., company that brokered
the sale.

"There aren't many TV stations, and when they become available, they
command top dollar," Callan said.

The purchase by Ellis Communications LLC took two years to negotiate,
President Bert Ellis said. Kelso & Co., a New York private investment
firm, is providing financial backing for the takeover.

"KDOC is a fantastic opportunity for us to participate in the largest
TV market in the world in terms of revenue," said Ellis, whose media
holdings include KAME-TV, a UPN station in Reno.

KDOC CEO Calvin Brack couldn't be reached for comment. The current
owner is Golden Orange Broadcasting, whose principals include
entertainer Pat Boone.

The Los Angeles broadcasting market, which includes Orange County, has
5.4million viewer households compared with 7.4million in Greater New
York. It has edged out New York since 2004 in terms of total
advertising revenue. One reason, Callan said, is more people in
Southern California get TV through broadcast or satellite signals,
which are more valuable than cable because of technological advances.

KDOC is licensed to Anaheim, with offices and studios in Irvine. The
station broadcasts on UHF Channel 56 as well as via cable and
satellite.

The sale must still receive approval from the Federal Communications
Commission.

This could be a blessing or a curse for PMS. I would get in there
immediately and find out what Ellis Comm's programming line-up intentions
are going to be, and initiate early negotiations. Complain about other
religious programming competitors and the seedy advertising slots that
KDOC bundled with, pre and post Dawkter Scowt's program, dictating that
she does not want this trend to continue--citing that it does not add
credibility to the God business. Being KDOC's oldest and best customer, I
would think that Ellis Comm. would bendover to accommodate her desires.
PMS has got them right where she wants them.

The owner of the station says, initially, he's not changing
programming. So Missy stays in good company with Matlock, et al. "Why
mess with a good thing?" he says. Apparently it's a pretty profitable
station. The shame is that Orange County surely could use its own
station, but doesn't look like that's going to happen. Instead the new
owner is going after the L.A. marketshare, not unlike Arte Moreno and
the Angels.

I really like the shows that 56 has and it's a good channel to have on
a weekday off from work. Matlock, Rockford Files, Quincy, Kojak.
These shows were on when I was a kid but I saw almost none of them so
they are new to me. I don't have cable but this is almost the same
thing. Plus Twilight Zone and Hitchcock at night, haven't been able to
see those show again for years till they obtained them. And Mission
Impossible, Hawaii 5-O too. A lot of good quality hour-long shows.

Yup, And, missy's live audition with Ellis is soooo impressive that
planet scott's flagship station bites the dust. Hmmm guess it may be
back to channels 30 or 38.

Well that leads one to belive there was more to the deal than just a cash
contract. Trying to sell the guy on something other than the cash value of
the time. Can anyone think of what this may have been?

No I mean in a deal like this you have the price or you don’t. She may
have been trying to get a discount based on the fact it was a religious
broadcast or something.

Maybe he just played along for public relations concerns.

I believe Dr. jean had a sweetheart deal with the old owner.
It was called KDOC and the owner appeared to be a follower
of Dr. jean. I think the new owner probably wanted full price
for the time slot and it was beyond LAUD's budget.

Hey Ya'll

Does anyone remember PMS threatening to cease the programs
on KDOC because of all the bad..bad
peoples not supporting her and that
it would be THEIR fault that Doc's
teachings would stop in LA????

Soooooo, now we find out that she's
uh.. been having problems all along
with KDOC!

Ha...Ha killing two birds with one stone.
Dropping the show because of her
wants, yet instilling more guilt in her
own people. And think what a great
tool it would be for her to use against
them later!

"I told you I'd take Doc off KDOC and
I did because of you ingrates, so now
I'm telling you I'll do "thus & such and
stuff like that" if you don't comply with
my demands now.....AND it will be
your own fault just like KDOC.

You do not spend THAT kind of money to continue with re-runs of Matlock and
ramblings from Pastor Melissa Scott.

Them saying that they're not going to change the programming reminds me
about the press releases by the new owners of Kinko's after they purchased
it from the original owner: "We're not laying anyone off. We're not
moving the headquarters. We're not going to sell it." Simply remove the
word "not" to find out what really happened.

Mel's days on KDOC are numbered. In fact, the longer the show has been
on, the sooner it will be bounced.

You have to remember that PMS is paying for her program
without her or KDOC trying to get advertisers. I would
think this is a good economic deal for the station.
(If she is paying full price for the time slot.)

Emmett.... Yes to what you say about advertisers, but it has more to do
with station image and where the new owners might want to take it. PMS is
not going to fit in. Lucky her.

Amazing too that KDOC is worth $150M! Compare that to when Doc had to
sell off the 3 FBN TV stations and the FM in the mid-80's. He once said
on Festival that the 3 TV stations were worth $10M each and the FM was
$18M. I think the TV stations each sold for about $3M and I don't know
about the FM.

The Orange County Register stated yesterday(4-5)that the selling of KDOC
has been in the works for 2years. Was Scott going to pretend he shut his
programing down because of his crappy viewers?
He was one super dishonest manipulator and now she is pulling the same
sh-t.
How there is one person who has not left the organization is a mystery to

PMS could save her program on kDOCtv by negotiating the deal personally
using the "Good Old Boy Technique." She just needs to identify the top
decision maker at the tv station and grease him up a little by taking him
out for 18 holes of golf--cajoling him the entire time so that she can
have her way. Multi-million dollar deals are made daily on golf courses
across America.

Afterwards she can close the deal by getting him all liquored-up and take
him into a Strip Club. Ooops...maybe not, better forget about the 18
holes.

Okay neow, it looks like Bert Ellis Jr. is the top decision maker to
negotiate with for the kDOCtv deal, new owner in transition. He's a
University of Virginia MBA graduate. He sure looks like a golfer to me.
Objectives of the deal:

Dawkter Scowt's programming air times and days of the week will remain the
same and frozen at the current fee rates for two years. I also want the
one hour back on Sundays, 7-11PM instead of 7-10PM.

No other religious programming competitors will air in the 4 hours before
and after Dawkter Scowt's program is shown.

Mr. Ellis, on behalf of The Los Angeles University Cathedral, I accept
your unrestricted gift of 2 million dollars for the furtherment of
Biblical Language teaching. As you know, our Pastor is currently fluent
in 19 different languages and teaches every Sunday, and on Thursday nights
too. Thank you, I believe we are in agreement and we have a deal..."Just a
minute please, while I call Boss Lady for approval and instructions..."

I agree with the "image" statement wholeheartedly. Corporations like these
aren't worried about paying next month's rent like the rest of us. They
want to demonstrate to their advertisers that their station has a quality
product being broadcast in the second largest market in America.

I can just see General Motors saying, "We're really impressed with your
weekly schedule, but what's with the bitter, long-haired woman?"

issued by an attorney general? Maybe the IRS.
